The Take Over!
Shoko Festival is back and taking over Harare, from the 18th to the 23rd of September. Shoko features artists from the USA, UK, Germany, Botswana, Kenya, South Africa and Malawi. Shoko embraces more art forms this year as it becomes Harare's largest celebration of urban culture. This year's Festival features, comedy, hip-hop, neo-soul, dance music, house, spoken word, dub-step, reggae and much more.

Through the celebration of urban art forms Shoko embraces our City and our artists' creative endeavours by taking over the town with music and laughter, spray cans and turntables. It's about reclaiming our joy and turning our dreams into reality. Shoko 2012 is a living experiment of expression and positive social change through the arts. SHOKO "Take Over the Town"

Shoko has catered for a wide range of tastes and there is something in the programme for everyone; For those who want to laugh there is a world class comedy night with top local and international comedians. For those who like to dance, a fantastic line up of local and international artists and DJs. For those who are hungry for information the Festival has planned a diverse array of creative workshops. For those who are poetic, a vibrant international poetry slam performance. For the young and the restless there is a vast array of day time youth events including fun shows and workshops. For the deep thinking among us, there are a series of debates on urban culture and social change. And for those who are more aesthetically orientated there is the photo exhibition "Shout" a behind the scenes look at urban art and
culture. Join us in taking over the town!

Where's the Take Over?
Shoko is taking over H-town! The festival week will see performances in different venues across the City including the main Festival Site at the Alliance Francaise. The vibrant, festive venue houses the King Pinn Main Stage, the Chingono Stage the Hub for the busy journos and the Shoko Market Place where all you city revellers can chill out in between performances. Bounce between the bars, urban clothing outlets, and food stalls or find a quiet patch of grass, catch your breath and watch the urban landscape shift around you.

Shoko events will also take place at the Book Café, Gallery Delta, Red Bar and at the Festival's satellite venue, the Peace in the Hood Stage in Glen Norah
