Musicians will include Juliette Bausor (flute), Morgan Szymanski (guitar), Leslie Howard, Coady Green and Leigh Harrold (all pianists!), Njabulo Madlala (baritone) and both the Odeion and Junior Odeion String Quartets as well as Petroc Trelawny and Richard Sisson and others from the BBC!
The festival will include a performance of Carmina Burana and the first performance of a major commission from Richard Sisson, The Song of the Carnivores. In addition to the usual concerts, there will be a daily series of concerts of different types of music and dance (pop, jazz, folk, ethnic, etc.) featuring local performers and involving the visitors in some "crossover".
The more traditional repertoire will include a Schubert concert (Fantasy in C for violin and piano, Variations on Trockne Blumen for flute and piano, Wanderer Fantasy and Death and the Maiden Quartet), a concertos concert (C.P.E.Bach: Flute Concerto in D minor, Mozart: Piano Concerto No.12 in A major, K414, Vivaldi: Guitar Concerto in D major, RV93 and Saint-Saëns: The Carnival of the Animals), several piano quintets (Dohnanyi: No.1, Schumann, Shostakovich and Leslie Howard), the Mendelssohn Octet - and a good deal more!
There will also be a late-night cabaret evening, silent films with live accompaniment, a semi-staged performance of Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale and a sing-along with Leslie Howard as pianist!
