THE Green Concert Reloaded that was initially scheduled for August 28 has been moved to July 31 at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare, indicating what could be construed as confusion of the organisers.

The upcoming show has been arranged to compensate for a flopped predecessor held at the same venue in May that was poorly attended as some of the artistes failed to turn up.

According to information provided by Dereck Mpofu, the Green Ambassador and organiser of the gig, the artistes failed to perform after their booked flight initially delayed before cancelling, thereby making it impossible for the foreign acts to travel.

Ringo Madlingozi from South Africa and Nigeria's Kunle Ayo failed to turn up while Winnie Khumalo managed to scramble alternative arrangements with a different flight, the promoters said.

Weeks after the flopped concert, Mpofu, who is the Goodwill ambassador for the Water Conservation and Zero Littering Campaign announced August 28 as the new date of the rescheduled show.

But yesterday he announced a new date for the show again.

"As we promised, we will be redoing the Green Concert on Friday July 31. All those with tickets must hold on to them. If you have lost yours, do not worry we wrote down your name. We promise to deliver on this one," Mpofu said.

Mpofu said he had learnt from previous mistakes and promised an improved event.

"What transpired on May 15 at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare, is now water under the bridge as we take a new approach to this forthcoming show," Mpofu said.

"We are glad to announce that all the artistes are committed as ever to come and perform at the concert.

"All those with tickets shall be given free entrance."

Mpofu said it was going to be a two-in-one event as they would also launch the Friends of the Green Ambassador in honour of all the corporates and schools which worked with them.

"We are still working on the modalities as we will be launching Friends of the Green Ambassador, but I am confident that we will bring all the artistes that were billed to perform at the Green Concert," he said.

Launched in 2012, Green Concert is a show which serves as an environmental awareness campaign through music and dance.
