"A prison with one million inmates": that's how Israeli filmmaker Ram Loevy describes the Gaza Strip, occupied by Israel for more than thirty-five years. Surrounded by an electric fence, the two hundred and eighty-eight kilometre area is one of the poorest on earth, with the unemployment rate reaching 60%. Shot before and after the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, the film portrays the tension and frustration at the no-man's land of the Erez border crossing, through which Palestinian workers must pass. Allowing Israeli peace activists and hard-line settlers to state their views, the filmmaker adds his own forceful commentary on the conflict.
