ABOUT US

Guetty Felin - Co-founder

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, reared in America and came of age cinematically in Paris France, Guetty Felin is an award winning Haitian-American filmmaker with a very eclectic and rich background in the film and television industry. Her career took root while in graduate school in Paris in 1991 with her work as associate producer for the series "Ecrire Contre L'oubli" (Write Against Forgetting) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Amnesty International. Since then, she has worked on over 70 hours of documentary and narrative films and has worn many hats: distributor, marketing/outreach director, screenplay reader, voice-over narrator, curator and teacher. Guetty has written and directed several personal pieces most of which are featured on this site. "A post modern gypsy, a hybrid, my trajectory and cultural identity pretty much pervades my sensibility as a filmmaker. As a child of immigrants I always find myself attracted to and gravitating around the same recurring themes of the unending search for home, foreignness, loss and memory."

Herve Cohen - Co-founder

A native of Paris, France, Hervé is an accomplished award-winning documentary filmmaker and digital cinematographer with over two decades of experience in the European and American television industry. Since 2003, Hervé has been a regular director/videographer for PBS/Wide Angle for their award-winning program Time For School, an unprecedented series that takes viewers into seven classrooms in 7 different countries to offer a glimpse of the lives of seven extraordinary children as they struggle to get a basic education. "When I was younger I dreamed of being an anthropologist, in college I studied law, soon after graduation, I forfeited my Juris Doctorate for filmmaking. Through documentary films I was able to follow my primary passion of studying and capturing the essence of the human experience. My body of documentary work is made of 15 films of various lengths shot in all corners of the world exploring a variety of socially engaging themes such as identity, exile, gentrification, ancestral traditions, music and art; all encapsulating and relating our common humanities."
