The Addis International Film Festival (AIFF) is an annual documentary film festival created by Initiative Africa in 2007 and held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is the largest independent documentary cinema festival in Africa and it was established as a unique initiative seeking to use the power of documentaries and short films to support innovative ways of creating awareness on social issues.
AIFF also supports the development of emerging talent, providing educational and networking opportunities, outreach training schemes and structured internship and volunteer programs all year. The festival itself is an exciting forum for new talent to meet established filmmakers and producers and buyers.The next edition will take place 14-19 May, 2013.
Addis International Film Festival returns to the city for its 7thedition.This year`s compelling line-up of insightful documentary and social Drama Film deal with wide variety of the subjects on current events, social and economic challenges, environmental issues, education, and culture.
Since 2007, this colorful, many-splendored event has filled our spring days with a refreshing, captivating atmosphere of culture and celebration. This marvelous festival of film has become a great tradition for everyone living in Addis Ababa.
In all, over 60 documentaries will be screened all around Addis from May 14th -19th, 2013 in: Alliance Ethio-Francaise, British council, Ethiopian Management Institute, Italian Cultural Institute and Bole Community Development Center. Series of Workshops will also be held for film professionals and young filmmakers.
It is with great honor that we invite you to be our guest at the opening ceremony on May 14th, 2013 /4:00 pm/ at the Italian Cultural Institute. The film we will be screening is "Becoming a Man among the Borana" Directed by Jean Queyrat.
Entrance tickets are free and available at Initiative Africa (Behind Edna mall, Lucky Building 5th Floor), Alliance Ethio-Francaise, British Council, Italian Cultural Institute, Book World, Ethiopian Management Institute and Bole Community Development Center.
